What is Occupational Therapy?
The role of the occupational therapist in pediatrics is to help develop and improve the child's autonomy and participation in the various activities of daily life.
Occupational therapists are health professionals who work with children with various developmental difficulties that interfere with their autonomy. These may be present in areas such as feeding, personal care, dressing, leisure activities, play, school performance and so on. The occupational therapist mainly assesses the child's daily activities (colouring, cutting, writing, dressing, eating, etc.), as well as the underlying skills that may interfere with the child's ability to perform these activities, and intervenes in these areas when difficulties are noted.
